In order to break the cycle of poverty, there must be access to education and employment. Far too often, though, women living rural areas have access to neither. The reason for this is twofold. First, a lack of natural resources impedes economic development, particularly in the agricultural sector. It’s especially hard for local women to be provided with enough opportunities for work or chances to change their lives. Second, low-income rural women have little or no education or vocational training, leaving them ill equipped for employment in urban areas where opportunities are plentiful.
We’ve created an enterprise, pioneered an industry, initiated policies to ensure Employment with Dignity, and facilitated significant social changes.
Within sixteen years, 50,000 rural women employed with dignity
Over the past 16 years, Fuping's housekeeping has developed from a non-profit organization to a social enterprise. From 0 to 1, it trained more than 50,000 housekeeper, and enabled more than 50,000 rural women to have a dignified foothold in the city. Nothing is built overnight, but rather cultivated through long-term patience and innovative spirit.
After years of development, Fuping Home Economics has grown into a social enterprise with the thinking power to keep pace with the times. In the internet age, Fuping engages in making a bigger impact, so as to make education and employment available to more low-income people at lower cost through online education. Then, at the end of 2014, an online education platform for the home economics industry was born.
This
platform not only provides training, but also has the functions of career
guidance, vocational ability assessment and docking with domestic enterprises. It
even started an interactive community for domestic workers which is convenient
for them to share experiment. The platform provides multi-dimensional support
for the integration of domestic workers in the city, and pushes the industry to
move towards a more professional direction. In less than two years, the
platform has developed a large number of "micro-courses" (nearly 100
of which have been launched in Tencent Excellent Courses and NetEase Cloud
Classes), with more than 30,000 students and more than 3.5 million learners. In
the future, Fuping will continue to cooperate with associations and government
departments to extend the model to the whole country.
