When
we think about scale-up solutions to social problems, we see opportunities like
this:
(1) Rely
on cross-border thinking and resources to solve complex social problems;
(2) The
way that Social enterprises and public welfare organizations do charity work is
to solve the problems at their source;
(3) The
elite who are willing to find the solution of social problems are looking for
systematic philanthropic learning opportunities and appropriate participation
paths;
(4) Diversified
and cross-border elites provide different ideas, which inspire social
enterprises and public welfare organizations.
Through giving full play to these
advantages, we take a step forward and
work together to build a healthy ecosystem in which beneficial conditions can
be integrated.
Social Venture Partners (SVP) was established in 2013 after drawing lessons from the venture philanthropy model. It aims to help those social elites with entrepreneurship to participate in the development and execution of projects with high potential, by investing in social enterprises and nonprofit organizations. At the same time, it spurs innovation in the local area where the program is held, establishing a favorable environment for venture philanthropy.
On the one hand, we invite like-minded friends to become partners. Through intense connections with the investees and a proactive learning process, our partners develop an increased understanding of the problems faced by the organizations in which they’ve invested, and learn to strive for sustainable solutions. Ultimately, they will become qualified philanthropists. On the other hand, through these social elites as well as their professional skills and social resources, we raise these investees’ key capacities, and inspire them to become social entrepreneurs. With these two aspects combined, we develop a network of venture philanthropy, with the vitality to learn from each other and face the challenges of pressing social issues.
The core of social innovation partners lies in two aspects: partners and the development of invested projects. Around these two key points, on the one hand, we will devote ourselves to the research and development of philanthropic learning products, forming a learning product system based on Chinese conditions and the characteristics of the local people, attracting more people with social care to join in it, and injecting entrepreneurship into the charity field. On the other hand, we will continue to invest in non-profit organizations and social enterprises with growth potential and innovative solutions, so that those who are willing to participate in philanthropy can find more positive solutions. At present, social innovation partners have landed in Beijing and Shanghai, we look forward more cities and more people to joining our ranks in the future, making society better.
